Coater Operator - Day Shift

This is a full-time hourly position reporting to the Shift Supervisor, working nights (5 AM–5 PM) on a 2-2-3 schedule, with overtime as needed based on business requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Abide by all existing safety and work rules.
  • Review preceding shift operations, problems, status, orders, and special instructions with the preceding coater helper.
  • Review the coating schedule and ensure accurate footage is run for all products.
  • Verify correct film, adhesive, run conditions, and web path.
  • Check adhesive solids at the beginning of the shift and on each additional batch, adjusting as necessary.
  • Inspect film for corona treatment before mounting to determine correct loading.
  • Visually inspect material for film and/or coating defects and report issues to the supervisor.
  • Check coating weights as required.
  • Prepare pre-mix and accurately measure/add catalyst if necessary.
  • Prepare for changeovers in advance to minimize downtime.
  • Complete all required paperwork.
  • Review shift operations, problems, status, orders, and special instructions with the oncoming operator.
  • Maintain equipment, report damage or mechanical issues to the supervisor.
  • Empty trash containers at the end of the shift.
  • Inform the supervisor of any inability to complete assigned orders.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Assist other plant employees as needed.
  • Follow all “coater operator” work instructions.
  • Perform any activities as required or requested by management.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with a manufacturing or quality environment preferred.
  • Ability to walk or stand for prolonged periods, bend, stoop, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in elevated temperatures.
  • Proficiency in reading a tape measure.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a focus on quality.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to understand detailed instructions.
  • Basic mathematical skills.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent credential in English and Mathematics.
  • Ability to operate or learn to operate auxiliary equipment such as forklifts, cranes, floor jacks, saws, knives, and other hand tools.

Schedule

Night shift: 5 AM–5 PM on a 2-2-3 schedule, with overtime as needed based on business requirements.
