About the role

Stantec is seeking a driven Coastal Engineering Project Manager/Senior Coastal Engineer to join our rapidly expanding Coastal Engineering Solutions Practice. This role requires a proven project manager and team leader with strong coastal engineering experience. The position is preferably based in Tampa, Florida, though other Florida locations and flexible work arrangements may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrated expertise in coastal zone management, resilience planning, and related coastal disciplines.
  • Provides senior-level project management and leadership for coastal projects across the U.S. and potentially Canada.
  • Led and delivered complex projects in coastal, estuarine, and marine environments.
  • Plans, schedules, and coordinates technical project phases while working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Prepares scopes of work, fee proposals, project budgets, cost estimates, and schedules.
  • Supports business development through proposal development and marketing efforts.
  • Provides construction management and related administrative services.
  • Mentors and oversees staff involved in coastal investigations, planning, and design.
  • Collaborates effectively with internal and external coastal professionals and support staff, communicating clearly and applying best practices in coastal zone management.

Requirements

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to conduct effective client and agency presentations and written report preparation.
  • Current registration as Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or Science Professional.
  • ACOPNE Certification.
  • Diplomat in Coastal Port, Ocean and/or Navigation Engineering.
  • Demonstrated project experience through professional publications and presentations.
  • Demonstrated strong understanding of the Coastal Zone Management market and future trends to assist in expanding the Coastal Practice.

Qualifications

  • Master of Science degree in Science or Engineering with 7+ years of experience with the subject matter focus on one of the areas of expertise listed above.
  • OR Bachelor of Science degree in Science or Engineering with 10+ years of experience in one of the areas of expertise listed above.

Skills

The successful candidate will possess a combination of technical knowledge and leadership skills to manage and deliver complex coastal projects. They should also have excellent communication and presentation skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
