Coaching Specialist (Full Time)

MVCAA is currently recruiting individuals to work with at-risk youth, preschool-age children, and their families in Oneida, Herkimer, and Madison counties.

About the role

The Coaching Specialist will work with and support the Child Development Leadership Team as well as Classroom Staff to ensure the program is meeting or exceeding the Head Start Performance Standards and Best Practice in accordance with the Child Development Philosophy.

Responsibilities

• In conjunction with the Child Services Team, model a collaborative team approach to mentor, train, and provide assistance to staff using a strength-based approach, ensuring they receive necessary support to successfully implement the curriculum and foster developmentally appropriate practices that support high-quality learning and school readiness.
• Provide opportunities for intensive coaching, if needed, including observation, feedback, and modeling of effective teacher practices directly related to program performance goals. For staff not requiring intensive coaching, provide other forms of research-based professional development.
• Assist with planning and completing program special events.
• Cover in classrooms as needed.
• Participate in annual self-assessment.
• Obtain and report program In-kind contributions.
• Conduct individual and small group meetings to facilitate dialogue supporting appropriate curriculum planning and implementation, ongoing assessment processes, and curriculum individualization.
• Assist with aggregating and analyzing data to determine patterns, trends, and improvement plans.
• Obtain and distribute the latest research-based resources and materials.
• Attend training and meetings as required.
• Prepare and present large and small group trainings.
• Adhere to Agency Personnel Procedures.
• Understand and support program School Readiness goals and objectives.
• Demonstrate commitment to mission, values, and policies in daily duties.
• Understand and support MVCAA, Inc. Supervision of Children policy.
• Perform other duties as requested by members of the Child Development Leadership Team.

Requirements

• Bachelor or advanced degree in Early Childhood Education preferred, or related field with early childhood coursework.
• Experience working in a classroom setting.
• Training and experience in adult learning and using assessment data to drive coaching strategies aligned with program performance goals.
• Ability to travel to all sites and trainings as necessary.
• Experience working with Word, Excel, and Microsoft Office; basic computer literacy in email, word processing, and internet navigation.
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality and privacy.
• Ability to maintain records.
• Ability to relate to people from varied backgrounds.
• Must pass a background check, fingerprint screen, and annual physical exam and TB test.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to move throughout classrooms, buildings, gross motor areas, and outside venues during field trips.
• Must be able to interact with children at the child’s level.

Pay

$20.36 - $24.00 per hour
