Coaching Manager, Alpha - $200,000/year USD

Crossover · New York, NY · 4 days ago
Management$200k/yrFull-time

What You Will Be Doing

  • Facilitating one-hour live workshops in life skills and social-emotional learning (SEL) for K-8 students covering subjects such as public speaking and concentration, adhering to Alpha's defined playbook.
  • Conducting daily motivation sessions designed to propel 100% of students toward weekly app objectives using developmentally appropriate incentives including school currency and leaderboards.
  • Developing Guides through direct observation, precise feedback, and practical coaching so they execute workshops with equivalent energy and accuracy to your own delivery.
  • Analyzing Coachbot data and student profiles to pinpoint individuals requiring intervention, then providing that intervention directly.
  • Directly mentoring your assigned student cohort, demonstrating the coaching and motivation techniques you require from every Guide.

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Creating lesson plans or developing curriculum. Students progress through adaptive apps; your responsibility is elevating the people surrounding them.
  • Delivering traditional classroom lectures. Your role is 80% performance, 20% content expertise; if standing at a whiteboard appeals to you, look elsewhere.
  • Compromising standards due to pressure from parents or administration. When a student achieves 99%, the response is "not yet" — and you'll receive full support to maintain that boundary.
  • Working from an office reviewing administrative documents. The majority of your time is spent directly with students and Guides.
  • Waiting extended periods for performance feedback. Results appear live in Coachbot and adjustments occur the same day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fulfill Alpha's 3 Promises for your cohort and the Guides under your leadership: every child develops a love for school, learns at 2x velocity, and acquires tangible life skills.

Basic Requirements

  • Currently located in or prepared to relocate to Beverly Hills, CA; Piedmont, CA; Greenwich, CT; Boca Raton, FL; Miami, FL; Boston, MA; Raleigh, NC; New York City, NY; Seattle, WA (relocation assistance provided).
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Business, or related discipline (Master's preferred; traditional teaching certifications are not required).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in education, learning and development, coaching, or related area.
  • Demonstrated experience creating and executing educational programs, curricula, or training initiatives.
  • Proven history of managing a team of 5 or more individuals, including responsibility for hiring and performance-based termination decisions.
  • Experience providing coaching, mentoring, or constructive feedback to enhance engagement and performance outcomes.
  • Experience engaging with youth ages 5–14 in educational or developmental contexts.
  • Competency in leveraging data and metrics to inform decisions and foster continuous improvement.

Nice-to-have Requirements

  • Master's degree in Education, Psychology, or Business.
  • Experience as an athletic coach, camp director, or youth program leader where you directly motivated children to achieve quantifiable goals.
  • Background coaching adults in positions where performance was measured and evaluated.
  • Confidence performing before large groups of children. The kind of presence that commands attention from a room full of 8-year-olds.
