About the role
Spark Homestead is seeking dynamic and passionate life coaches to work with a diverse group of teenagers, helping them discover their passions and reach their full potential. You'll engage with students one-on-one, in small groups, and through side-by-side activities to develop life skills, set and achieve goals, and build confidence and resilience. Spark Homestead is part of The Heritage Community, a long-standing non-profit 501(c)(3) treatment program founded in 1984 and located in Provo, UT.
Responsibilities
- Develop close, personal, and emotionally supportive relationships with students to coach them in their treatment progression.
- Implement clinical treatment plans as outlined by the Treatment Team.
- Ensure a healthy, comfortable, safe, and caregiving environment is maintained.
- Participate in a wide variety of activities with students (e.g., sports, bike riding, skiing, rock climbing, hiking, swimming) to encourage skill development.
- Use mediation and intervention techniques to redirect students during escalated moments.
- Transport students to and from off-campus appointments and activities using company vehicles.
Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to successfully coach and mentor adolescents.
- Assertiveness to learn and continually enhance knowledge of neurodiversity and mental health.
- Good energy and ability to work in all weather conditions.
- Engaging and empathetic character with tenacity and determination.
- Strong problem-solving, decisiveness, and teamwork skills.
- Proficient communication and interpersonal relationship skills.
- Must be at least 20 years of age or older.
- Physical ability to provide interventions, such as safety holds.
- Valid Driver’s License with no more than one traffic violation in the past three years to transport students.
- Proficiency and fluency in speaking, understanding, reading, and writing English.
Qualifications
The Heritage Community is a smoke- and vape-free workplace. All new hires must successfully complete a background check, including verification of employment history, education, and criminal records.
Schedule
- Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM or 2:30 PM – 10:00 PM
- Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM or 2:30 PM – 10:00 PM
- Overflow shifts available for training and background-checked candidates until a full schedule opens.
- Sunday rotation: One Sunday every four weeks, 8:00 AM – 10:00 PM.
