Coach - Head HS Wrestling (Effective 2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR)

About the Role

Promote sportsmanship and foster good character in student athletes. Provide for the safety and welfare of all participants. Supervise students in practice areas, locker rooms, busses, and at all times during the season. Exercise patience, tolerance, and diplomacy in relations with all players, parents, co-workers, contest officials, and spectators. Interscholastic activities are an extension of the classroom, and your actions, behavior, and interactions with student athletes should reflect this.

Requirements

  • Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate OR Valid Arizona Substitute Certificate OR Valid Arizona Coaching Certificate (Sport Specific) AND NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching certificate (at employee's expense)
  • Fundamentals of Coaching Course OR Coach Level 1 (if using to qualify for varsity head coach position in lieu of teaching/coaching certificate), which includes:
    • NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching
    • Protecting Students from Abuse
    • Sudden Cardiac Arrest
  • All coaches (varsity head coach & assistant coaches) must have current certifications:
    • NFHS Concussion certificate (Concussion in Sports Course)
    • ATC Student-Athlete Health & Wellness certificate (must review PowerPoint and sign a document affirming PowerPoint has been reviewed)
    • Act on Facts Suicide Prevention Training OR NFHS Student Mental Health and Suicide Prevention certificate (Student Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Course)
    • Current CPR w/AED (online classes not accepted; EMT license supersedes this requirement)
    • Current First Aid (online classes not accepted; EMT license supersedes this requirement)
    • Current Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Prior to start date:
    • Bloodborne pathogen training (after hire by TUSD Risk Management Department)
    • Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles) or proof of MMR immunization

Schedule

Season runs from November 2026 into February 2027 at Pueblo High School (Ajo & 12th Ave). Stipend is prorated for days missed due to late starts or early terminations.

Pay

This is a temporary position with a stipend. Not eligible for district benefits.
