Description Of Basic Functions And Responsibilities
- Demonstrates knowledge of the fundamental skills and techniques needed for the specific sport.
- Demonstrates successful personality and character traits appropriate to educational leadership.
- Demonstrates successful ability to organize practices.
- Ability to work cooperatively with the varsity head coach and/or Athletic Director to design an appropriate conditioning program.
- Demonstrates successful management and organization skills including following all district guidelines and policies.
- Ability to work with parent groups, administrators, staff and students.
- Ability to instill commitment, discipline, and teamwork in a group of young people of perhaps widely varying athletic ability, socioeconomic background in preparation for the next level of play.
- Ability to help students balance a demanding academic workload with athletic commitment.
- Works together in cohesion with all coaches within the sport program.
- The ability to follow the CIF/CCSBVAL Coaches Code of Conduct and the BVAL policies and guidelines.
- The ability to follow appropriate district protocols regarding cash handling as delegated by the varsity head coach and/or Athletic Director.
- Maintain and inventory equipment and uniforms as delegated by the varsity head coach and/or Athletic Director.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Playing experience in the specific sport at the high school, collegiate, amateur or professional level.
- Experience coaching youth leagues, middle school, or sports camp in the same sport, or equivalent experience.
- Current State of California coaching certifications.
- Current certification required by the East Side Union High School District, including but not limited to ANNUAL mandated reporter training.
- Must pass District Fingerprint clearance.
