COACH COUNSELOR

About the role

The Oaks Academy is a secure post-adjudication facility located in Brownwood, Texas that provides comprehensive services to young men and women (13-17) using a trauma-informed, strength-based, gender-responsive model.

Responsibilities

• Provide safety and around-the-clock in-person supervision of youth at a secure residential facility.
• Provide for the physical, personal, and health needs of each youth through individual counseling and skill development.
• Create a supportive atmosphere for the youth’s needs; monitor and document behaviors and activities.
• Participate and assist with educational, social, athletic, and recreational activities.
• Collaborate with other professional staff to establish and meet the goals of each youth's treatment plan.

Requirements

• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Pass a criminal background check, drug, physical, and TB test.
• Pass a search of the child abuse central registry.

Qualifications

• Strong role models to provide services and mentorship.
• Ability to work rotating schedule – one long week Monday, Tuesday, half of Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday; one short week half of Wednesday and Thursday.
• Shifts: 12 hours - 7a-7p or 7p-7a.

Skills

• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed care principles.

Schedule

Pay

Starting at $17/hour + depending on relevant education and experience.
