About the role
Under the direction of the Head Swim Coach, the Swim Coach is responsible for high-quality programs, customer service, and participant engagement. This individual must maintain high personal standards and adhere to and carry out the Purpose and Values of Greater Midland.
Responsibilities
- Supervise athletes to promote effective student learning through participation in athletic activities.
- Hold self, athletes, and coaches accountable to the Code of Conduct expectations.
- Plan, develop, and implement an effective program for the identified sport to prepare athletes both physically and mentally to participate with confidence and self-assurance in athletic contests.
- Ensure compliance with Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policies (MAAPP)/SafeSport expectations and renewal as required.
- Prepare and follow workouts for each team.
- Follow and enforce all pool rules, policies, processes, and procedures.
- Communicate effectively, positively, and professionally with athletes, parents, officials, and school administrators.
- Complete coach’s report following all practices and meets to ensure accurate and timely communication regarding safety, behavior concerns, etc.
- Complete, in a timely manner, all requests from supervisor in the achievement of department and center goals and objectives.
- Consistently demonstrate behaviors aligned with Greater Midland’s Values.
Requirements
- Prior experience with a swim team
- CPR/First Aid/AED certification
- Lifeguard Certification
- Excellent people skills; ability to work with a wide variety of personalities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
