SUMMARY
Aid the Head Coach of a high school athletic team and contribute to the growth of the athletic program by teaching foundational and advanced skills of the sport while adhering to CHSAA and Poudre School District guidelines.
JOB TASKS
- Assist the head coach with practice sessions to develop sport skills and sportsmanship among student athletes.
- Supervise student athletes before, during, and after all school-sanctioned events; ensure their safety at all times and provide necessary equipment.
- Attend and monitor practices and games; communicate with athletes and parents about schedules, academic performance, and expectations.
- Follow CHSAA and Poudre School District guidelines; assist with inventory and security of equipment and supplies; perform equipment maintenance and locker-room supervision.
- Assist with organizing extra practices; communicate discipline procedures, safety concerns, and any student injuries requiring emergency medical services to the school Head Coach and Athletic Director.
- Demonstrate fairness and consistency in all decisions and judgments related to sport participants; adhere to district guidelines for building use and field access.
- Attend work and arrive in a timely manner; perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSES REQUIRED
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous coaching experience in the sport is strongly preferred.
- Criminal background check required for hire.
- Valid Teaching License or Special Services License issued by Colorado Department of Education OR valid CHSSA Coach Certification.
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications required before coaching assignment begins.
- Complete required trainings upon hire: Concussion, Blood Borne Pathogens, Child Abuse and Reporting, and Sexual Harassment.
