Co-Director, CSC, Head of Computation Strategies
CSC is jointly managed by the California NanoSystems Institute (CNSI) and the Materials Research Lab (MRL). It delivers High-Performance Computing (HPC) resources—both hardware and technical expertise—to the UCSB research community via campus-wide and dedicated “condo” clusters.
About the role
The Co-Director serves as a systems administrator for the CSC clusters, collaborates on grant proposals to refresh or expand HPC infrastructure, and organizes quarterly instructional workshops plus occasional conferences on HPC and research-computing topics. The role ensures CSC compliance with all relevant federal, state, and campus regulations, policies, and procedures. As a senior research-computing professional, the Co-Director also participates in campus-wide IT governance through service on standing and ad-hoc committees and supervises a secondary systems administrator and a user-support specialist.
