CNN Weather Internships: ATL or NYC - Fall 2026

About the role

This internship will be located in the Atlanta or New York City areas. The selected intern will be expected to join us in the office on a regular cadence based on the intern manager’s in-office schedule.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the production of on-air, digital, video and written weather and climate content for use across CNN’s various platforms.
• Research weather, climate and science related stories, and provide information to the CNN Weather and Climate department.
• Learn weather graphics software and build elements for on-air, digital, and video use.
• Participate in breaking weather and other related breaking news stories.
• Have the ability to record a demo reel.

Requirements

• Students should be majoring in Meteorology, Atmospheric Sciences, or science related journalism at an accredited University.
• Interested in pursuing a career in weather or climate communications.
• A self-starter that is engaged in the weather and climate media landscape.
• Strong communication skills (written, verbal and via video).
• Avid consumer of weather and news across the scope of the media landscape (reads weather and news articles, watches TV weather and broadcast news regularly, engages with weather and news stories on digital platforms such as social media).
• Ability to break down complex scientific processes and relay them in a non-technical way through writing and reporting or on camera.
• Must be actively enrolled in an accredited college or university degree program for the full duration of the internship (proof of enrollment required).
• Must be a rising Junior or rising Senior undergrad student (18 years or older).
• Must be in academic good standing (3.0 or above GPA).
• A transcript will be required to verify your GPA if an offer is extended.

Qualifications

• Must be presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and who will not require work visa sponsorship from Warner Bros. Discovery now or in the future in order to retain their authorization to work in the United States.
• Candidates currently on any student or exchange visa, including F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, J-1, M-1, etc., will not be eligible for the internship program.

Pay

$19 per hour USD for undergrad interns.

Schedule

Interns will be expected to work 16-24 hours per week in a hybrid capacity.
