Mission Description
Operates computer numerical controlled (CNC) router machines. Router machines are generally used for the construction of aircraft interior structural and non-structural parts, such as floor panels, aluminum parts, phenolic panels and other various materials used in aircraft interiors using engineering drawings, company and customer specifications.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Adheres to company and customer specifications, work instructions, engineering prints and work orders.
- Issues the materials within ERP system to maintain traceability of product.
- Carefully handles raw material and manufactured parts to ensure the integrity and quality is not compromised by handling.
- Operates/monitors CNC Router machine to ensure proper program and machine performance.
- Experience using Mastercam 2019
- Edit settings, manage tool library, and manipulate post processor settings.
- Writes programs and assigns toolpaths within the software that are for parts that have complex surfaces and multiple operations for 3axis routers.
- Reviews drawing 3D file for accuracy within Autodesk.
- Programs parts from 3D file into Mastercam software.
- Creates cutting paths in Mastercam software.
- Built parts to proper build schedule with aid from Production Control/lead/supervisor.
- Operates tools such as: drills, drill press, debur equipment.
- Verifies the accuracy of the parts using calipers, scales and other metrology equipment as a periphery inspection and report any suspect parts immediately to lead.
- Involves in improving lean product flow.
- Tool production and design using Mastercam.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Experience
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- A High School Education or GED, required.
- Min 3-5 years CNC router experience preferred.
Skills/Abilities
- Ability to communicate well in English both in writing and orally.
- Troubleshooting/problem solving
- Detail oriented
- Able to prioritize, multi-task effectively, and work under pressure
- Able to perform basic mathematic calculations
- Must be able to read and understand drawings
- Familiarity of the basic operation of CNC router machine, Mastercam and AutoCAD software
- Understanding of quality objectives, customer's expectations
Working Conditions
- Standard machine shop environment.
Physical Requirements
- Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
- Hearing and vision within normal ranges is essential for safe conduct on the manufacturing floor and to meet job responsibilities.
- Pre-employment hearing test may be required.
