About the role
Responsible for writing CNC programs and creating setup sheets for CNC equipment across multiple facilities (Ashley Furniture, Wanvog Furniture, and Wanek Furniture).
Responsibilities
- Develop and review machining processes to optimize fabrication methods.
- Determine optimal machine setups and programs for maximum efficiency and cost reduction.
- Create and maintain Engineering Introduction Orders (EIO's) and Engineering Change Orders (ECO's).
- Interact with CNC department employees and management to resolve issues and implement improvements.
- Evaluate processes, set-ups, program cycles, and operator movements to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
- Assist with documentation and implementation of best practices, troubleshoot program problems, and suggest improvements to reduce downtime and increase productivity.
- Study raw materials to determine the most efficient yield properties and recommend sizes to manufacturing management and purchasing department.
- Work with suppliers to utilize their factory capabilities to produce materials that meet production needs.
- Propose standardization of material usage between facilities and investigate material variance and location variance to reduce costs.
- Collaborate with product design departments to standardize product designs and improve material usage and factory flow.
- Assist with testing new material types and assist with the design and development of CNC equipment.
- Assist with the design and development of CNC tooling, including creating tooling drawings and qualifying form and function.
- Maintain clean CNC programming databases and monitor and update information in BOM and other engineering and production maintenance databases.
- Manage projects from start to finish, utilizing resources available.
- Research and answer suggestions submitted to the IDEA Network.
Qualifications
Requires a strong background in CNC programming, machining processes, and material efficiency. Proficiency in relevant software and hardware is essential. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills are required, along with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
