Responsibilities
- Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs using Mastercam and other CAM software
- Develop efficient machining strategies for CNC mills, lathes, and multi-axis machining centers
- Review engineering drawings, CAD models, and GD&T requirements
- Select tooling, workholding, cutting parameters, and machining sequences
- Support machine setups, prove-outs, first-piece inspections, and troubleshooting activities
- Improve cycle times, tooling performance, and overall machining efficiency
- Collaborate with machinists and engineers to solve manufacturing challenges
- Maintain CNC programs, setup sheets, tooling documentation, and revision records
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, productivity, and cost reduction
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in CNC programming, CAM programming, or CNC machining
- Proficiency with Mastercam or similar CAM software
- Strong understanding of CNC machining processes, tooling, feeds, speeds, and cutting strategies
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T
- Experience programming precision-machined components with tight tolerances
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills
Qualifications
- Experience in a high-mix, low-volume job shop
- Programming and supporting 3-axis, 4-axis, or 5-axis CNC machines
- CNC milling and turning experience
- Prototype and short-run production environments
- Experience with Siemens NX CAM or other advanced CAM systems
- Knowledge of process improvement and lean manufacturing principles
