CNC Programmer I - Dental Furniture Machining

Overview

The CNC Programmer I position at A-dec supports the development of CNC programs for standard production runs and assists with simple to complex parts, including prototypes and custom orders during new product development. This role receives structured training and close mentorship from experienced team members.

Job Duties And Responsibilities

• Aid in programming using Engineering CAD files of new or revised designs, including standard production parts and first-run prototypes, and provide feedback to improve programming skills.
• Revise and update CNC programs based on operator feedback and reviews.
• Help establish file-saving protocols and ensure accurate program version control.
• Research tooling technology and participate in quality testing.
• Under supervision, assist in selecting CNC supplies and tooling, and maintain CAD, CAM, and Inventor files for special tooling.
• Prepare production documentation to guide CNC setup and operation.
• Ensure engineering revisions are up-to-date and adhere to departmental policies, focusing on documentation's role in manufacturing success.
• Provide introductory assistance in training CNC operators and woodworkers on hardware and software usage.
• Collaborate with Tooling, Maintenance, Manufacturing Engineers, ME Techs, and other Programmers to develop methods, diagnose machine or fixture issues, and contribute to Design For Manufacturability (DFM).
• Maintain quality and productivity standards, demonstrate reliability, and follow safety guidelines consistently.
• Assist with process, program, tooling, and/or fixturing enhancements.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of CAM software including producing usable code for the required machinery type control and application.
• Advanced machining and fabrication tasks, inspect assigned work, including first article inspection.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret complex blueprints, rough-drawn sketches, CAD/CATIA, and Inventor files.
• Working knowledge of GD&T to develop programs and other related documentation, where applicable.
• Able to perform complex programming math calculations with an understanding of decimal/fraction equivalence, geometry, and other.
• Ability to manage time and resources effectively.
• Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles.

Education And Experience

Typically requires 2+ years of machine center and/or CNC machine operation experience.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise maneuver up to 35 pounds with or without assistance on a routine basis and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
• Manual hand dexterity to grasp, operate tools and equipment repetitively.
• Able to walk, stand, sit, bend, reach, and occasionally kneel, climb steps, and twist throughout an entire shift.
• Some areas may be exposed to chemicals, noise, vibration, and/or dust, requiring the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as safety glasses, hearing protection, foot protection, etc.
• Ability to wear respiratory protection and comply with OSHA's respirator use requirements.
