CNC Programmer

About the role

The Programmer will collaborate with engineering, operations, and project management to develop and improve technical manufacturing solutions for new and existing programs. This role involves problem-solving and optimizing part programs and manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Prepares Run Instructions, Setup Sheets, and Tool Lists for parts being programmed.
• Pulls files from Catia and reviews 3D CAD design blueprints.
• Creates Multi-axis toolpath for CNC Mills using Catia (V5-R32).
• Develops 3, 4, and 5 axis CNC mill programs.
• Updates repeat jobs to current internal standards and latest engineering revisions (includes 3, 4, and 5 axis and sheet metal).
• Checks completed programs by running simulations or tests.
• Chooses cutting tools and calculates proper Feeds and Speeds.
• Analyzes operation sequence to optimize machine time and setup.
• Writes programs using Post Processors and edits existing ones for increased efficiency.
• Understands Multi Axis machining on Horizontal and Vertical Mills using a Rotary Axis.
• Uses a standard Tool List to eliminate unnecessary tool changes in the machine.
• Proofs out programs with the help of an operator to ensure proper functionality and part accuracy.
• Works with the quality department to ensure an acceptable First Article Inspection (FAI).
• Communicates effectively with Engineering and other Programmers.
• Develops technical manufacturing options for new product introduction and work transfer.
• Evaluates assigned parts for best program and fixturing processes.
• Stays current with new tooling and programming practices; incorporates efficient tools and practices as recognized.
• Collaborates with engineering, operations, and project management concerning product manufacturing.
• Assists with resolution of customer, technical, and quality issues.
• Complies with all safety rules and regulations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required; 2-year Technical Degree preferred.
• 3-5 years' experience in MasterCam.
• Experience programming with Catia V5/6, CAD/CAM, or NX is a plus.
• Minimum of 3 years of machining experience.
• Proficient in blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation.
• Knowledge of G codes, M codes, Cutter Comps, Offsets, etc.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
• Good understanding of part holding, machine operation, and G code.
• Knowledge of advanced machining techniques.
• Strong reasoning, problem-solving, and communication skills (verbal and written).
• Ability to multitask; flexibility and open-mindedness are desired.
• Travel required: up to 10% or more.

Pay

$35-$40 per hour, depending on experience.
