JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Determines the sequence of shaping operations and chooses the cutting tools needed.
- Analyzes job orders, drawings, blueprints and other data and performs necessary calculations to manufacture new and special components.
- Writes programs or modifies existing programs and stores them on the program database.
- Ensures machines and programs operate correctly and that products meet specifications.
- Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods, processes, and tooling strategies associated with CNC machining operations.
- Maintains CNC program and router data base for each product manufactured, by machine process and machine type.
- Supports operations cost analyses in justification of changes to processes, tooling, and/or equipment, project justifications, and post-audits.
- Participates in the design and development of custom jigs and fixtures.
- Supports manufacturing operations in identifying and resolving production issues related to machine setup, tooling, and programming.
- Initiates and supports Lean manufacturing, cost reduction, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Performs time studies to evaluate effectiveness against routing generation as it relates to production run and setup times.
- Works with design engineering and production operations to optimize manufacturing processes and set standards for maximizing efficiencies for throughput and quality.
- Generates process routings in MRP system required to manufacture current products and new product introductions.
- Aids in the recruitment and selection of shop CNC employees.
- Aids Production Supervisors in achieving company goals.
OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of CNC programming (Mastercam) preferred.
- Ability to write computer programs.
- Skills in blueprint reading and knowledge of GDT.
- Possession of reading comprehension, knowledge of mathematics, and use of active listening skills.
- Knowledge and experience with precision measuring tools.
- Knowledge and critical thinking, logic, and reasoning to troubleshoot and solve problems.
- Knowledge of Lean-World Class Manufacturing methods.
- Instructs others as well as actively continues self-learning.
- Empowers time management techniques.
