CNC Plasma Programmer - 2nd Shift

Key Responsibilities
- Create and maintain CNC plasma nesting programs for steel sheets used in tank production.
- Review drawings, cut lists, work orders, and production requirements to determine proper part layout and material needs.
- Nest parts efficiently to maximize material yield and minimize scrap.
- Generate accurate burn files/programs for CNC plasma table operation.
- Verify part dimensions, material thickness, grade, quantity, and job requirements before releasing programs to production.
- Work with engineering and production teams to resolve drawing, part, or fit-up concerns.
- Communicate with plasma table operators regarding program details, cutting sequence, and material requirements.
- Maintain organized files for plasma programs, revisions, and completed jobs.
- Help identify opportunities to improve material usage, cutting efficiency, and overall production flow.
- Support inventory accuracy by communicating material usage and leftover sheet/remnant information.
- Avoid troubleshooting program-related issues at the plasma table when needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Experience with CNC plasma programming, nesting software, CAD/CAM software, or similar manufacturing programming experience.
- Ability to read and interpret manufacturing drawings, part prints, and cut lists.
- Strong understanding of material thickness, part orientation, kerf, lead-ins, lead-outs, and cut quality considerations.
- Strong computer skills and ability to learn manufacturing software systems.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to organize work and support production deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with operators, supervisors, and engineering.
- Basic math skills, including fractions, decimals, and measurements.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing/shop environment.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the production area as needed.
- Must be able to wear required PPE while in production areas.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience programming for steel sheet plasma cutting.
- Experience with nesting software such as ProNest, SigmaNEST, TruNest, Hypertherm software, or similar CNC nesting platforms.
- Experience working with DXF, DWG, or CAD files.
- Knowledge of steel fabrication, tank fabrication, or structural steel manufacturing.
- Experience operating or supporting CNC plasma tables.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing, material yield improvement, and scrap reduction.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in both office and shop floor environments.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the production area as needed.
- Ability to review parts, sheets, and cut materials on the shop floor.
- Must be able to wear required PPE while in production areas.
