About the Role

Prepares and operates computer numerical control (CNC) machines. Follows provided operational instructions for the machine and part processes. Responsible for the proper loading of parts and materials, in-process inspections, and finessing as required. Manufactures parts to required quantity and maintains accurate entries into the ERP system. Supports machine maintenance and maintains a properly 5S work area.

Responsibilities

  • Performs part processing per provided work instruction and/or verbal instruction.
  • Interprets drawing requirements and geometric dimensions and tolerances.
  • Selects and utilizes appropriate cutting tools and work holding for various materials and machining processes.
  • Performs precise measurements and inspections to ensure parts meet stringent quality control standards.
  • Manages tooling and fixturing as required.
  • Reports faulty hardware, processes, and non-conformances to immediate supervisor.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all safety protocols.
  • Monitors machine operation and display readouts to detect malfunctions; compares display data to specifications and notifies supervisor of issues.
  • May perform machine adjustments, maintenance, and assist with developing new machining methods and tooling for complex parts.
  • Actively engages in and initiates continuous improvement activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of machining experience, preferably in a high-precision or military environment.
  • High school degree or equivalent.

Skills

  • Proficient in operating and programming CNC machines.
  • Skilled in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD models.
  • Ability to use precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, CMM).
  • Understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift heavy equipment and materials up to 50 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities include close and distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel, as well as reach with hands and arms.
  • Capable of standing for long periods and working in various industrial settings (e.g., machine shops).
  • Ability to withstand a loud noise environment.
