CNC Operator

About the role

This role focuses on operating CNC mills and lathes to run production parts on the 2nd shift, completing work that remains from the 1st shift. You will work in a small, clean, and well-lit shop producing a variety of precision screws and components for multiple industries using materials such as brass, bronze, aluminum, steel, stainless steel, and plastics. The position offers the opportunity to take direction, support production goals, and eventually lead the shift as you grow in the role.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC mills and lathes on the 2nd shift to complete production parts that remain from the 1st shift.
• Run and monitor CNC machines, including three mills and seven lathes, to ensure consistent, high-quality output.
• Produce a variety of screws and precision components for different industries using brass, bronze, aluminum, steel, stainless steel, and plastic materials.
• Follow production schedules and instructions to meet daily and weekly output targets.
• Perform machine setup tasks on mills and lathes, including loading tools, setting offsets, and preparing fixtures, when needed.
• Read and interpret blueprints to understand part specifications, tolerances, and machining requirements.
• Use calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring tools to inspect parts and verify they meet required dimensions and quality standards.
• Identify basic machining issues, make minor adjustments, and communicate larger concerns to leadership to maintain efficient operation.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, following shop safety guidelines and best practices.
• Collaborate with team members, take direction from leadership, and provide guidance to others as you grow into a shift lead role.

Essential Skills

• At least 3 years of CNC operating experience on mills or lathes.
• Hands-on experience running CNC mills and/or lathes in a production environment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints accurately.
• Proficiency using precision measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers.
• Experience working with metals and plastics, including brass, bronze, aluminum, steel, stainless steel, and plastic materials.
• Willingness to take direction and support shift leadership.
• Ability to work independently on 2nd shift while maintaining quality and productivity.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous CNC setup experience on mills and lathes is highly preferred.
• Comfort performing basic machine adjustments and troubleshooting minor machining issues.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality parts.
• Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate with a small team.
• Interest in developing into a shift lead role over time.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Becker, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $40.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
