CNC Operator

About the role

CNC Operator will work in conjunction with the CNC Department Manager to establish aerospace tool setups and validate programs for use on 3 and 5 axis machines. They are responsible for the day-to-day operation of the numerical control machine program development.

Responsibilities

• Works in conjunction with NC Programmers and CNC Department Manager to establish NC tool setups and validate NC programs for use on 3 and 5 axis CNC machines.
• Responsible for complete Numerical Control operation for machining tools, details, and parts.
• Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and policies.
• Responsible for Numerical Control Database Management.
• Any additional duties as reasonably assigned by management.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED.
• 5 years’ experience in conventional machining and/or NC machining practices.
• Strong mathematical skills, including the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumferences, and volume.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints including geometric tolerance and understanding of general tolerances and GD&T.
• Must meet Export Control Compliance requirements; therefore, a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. is required.

• Able to work varied shifts, overtime, and weekends when necessary.
• Confidence in leading processes, projects, and looks for opportunities.
• Ability to work with the management team to help drive performance of location.
• Department of Defense Secret Security Clearance: Though not required, individuals with current, previous, or willingness to obtain and maintain clearance during employment are preferred.

Working Conditions

• Exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, caustic chemicals, vibration, and moderate noise level.
• May be required to work overtime or weekends to meet department and business demands.
• Must wear necessary personal protective gear (PPE) such as safety shoes, eye protection, and hearing protection. Specialized positions may require additional PPE like hard hats, gloves, face shields, fall protection, protective clothing, and powered air-purifying respirators (PAPR).

Physical Demands

• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• Must be able to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Must be able to see, talk, hear, touch, feel, and reach with hands and arms.
• Must be able to frequently walk and stand for prolonged periods of time.
• Must be able to lift and move up to 35 lbs, occasionally lift and move objects up to 50 lbs. For objects over 50 lbs, use of provided mobile handling devices (e.g., conveyors, cranes, industrial vehicles) is required.
• Must pass and maintain certifications for using business-provided moving equipment (e.g., Lockout/Tagout, Aerial Lifts, Fall Protection, Overhead Crane, Rigging, Mobile Equipment, Powered Industrial Vehicle).

Travel Requirements

May require travel to other site locations, primarily local during the business day. Some projects may require overnight stays as well as out-of-area travel, paid for by the business.
