About the role
The CNC Operator sets up, operates, and monitors CNC machinery to produce precision components that meet engineering and quality standards. This position requires a strong understanding of machining processes, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining high-quality production in a safe, efficient work environment.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC lathes, mills, or drills per job specifications and work orders.
- Load and secure raw materials and tools in machines for optimal performance.
- Inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, and gauges to ensure precise tolerances and compliance with specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and G-code programs accurately.
- Perform minor program edits and make necessary tool changes.
- Monitor machine performance, identify issues, and make real-time adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency.
- Perform routine machine maintenance, lubrication, and cleaning.
- Report mechanical or operational issues promptly to the supervisor.
- Follow all company safety policies and wear required PPE.
- Work collaboratively with team members, engineers, and supervisors to resolve production challenges and improve processes.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school certification in machining preferred.
- 1–3 years of experience in CNC machining or a related manufacturing role.
- Strong understanding of blueprint reading, G-code interpretation, and CNC control operation.
- Familiarity with precision measuring instruments and inspection tools.
- Basic math and measurement skills; attention to detail is essential.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Manual dexterity and strong hand-eye coordination.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with multiple-axis CNC machines.
- Knowledge of tooling setup and optimization for production efficiency.
