CNC Operator

About the role

The CNC Operator sets up, operates, and monitors CNC machinery to produce precision components that meet engineering and quality standards. This position requires a strong understanding of machining processes, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining high-quality production in a safe, efficient work environment.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC lathes, mills, or drills per job specifications and work orders.
• Load and secure raw materials and tools in machines for optimal performance.
• Inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, and gauges to ensure precise tolerances and compliance with specifications.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and G-code programs accurately.
• Perform minor program edits and make necessary tool changes.
• Monitor machine performance, identify issues, and make real-time adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency.
• Perform routine machine maintenance, lubrication, and cleaning.
• Report mechanical or operational issues promptly to the supervisor.
• Follow all company safety policies and wear required PPE.
• Work collaboratively with team members, engineers, and supervisors to resolve production challenges and improve processes.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school certification in machining preferred.
• 1–3 years of experience in CNC machining or a related manufacturing role.
• Strong understanding of blueprint reading, G-code interpretation, and CNC control operation.
• Familiarity with precision measuring instruments and inspection tools.
• Basic math and measurement skills; attention to detail is essential.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Manual dexterity and strong hand-eye coordination.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with multiple-axis CNC machines.
• Knowledge of tooling setup and optimization for production efficiency.
