CNC Mill Machinist - Experienced (1st Shift Weekend, Fri-Mon)

About the Role

This position is for an experienced CNC Milling Machinist Technician responsible for machining turbine engine components to achieve specified dimensions for aerospace and marine industry sectors. The role involves working in a large Machining Department with various CNC and manual equipment, alongside a team of professional machinists in a climate-controlled, state-of-the-art facility.

Component Repair Technologies, Inc. (CRT), a Safran Aircraft Engines company, specializes in the repair and overhaul of turbine engine components, serving global leaders in aerospace and jet engine manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Follow established safety protocols and guidelines to ensure compliance with company policies.
• Adhere to written and verbal work instructions, using approved gauges and tools to inspect parts and determine required material removal, including setting gauges to approved master gauges.
• Operate CNC machines to remove material to achieve required dimensions before or after coating applications, including loading and unloading parts as part of setup.
• Use inspection gauges, comparators, micrometers, calipers, and hand tools to ensure dimensional accuracy.
• Identify and correct machining problems related to tools, holders, collets, and chucks.
• Accurately record findings on work instructions and documentation.
• Perform finishing operations such as deburring, tapping, honing, and bench work.
• Participate in training and offer expertise in the OJT program for various levels of machinist technicians.

Requirements

• Five plus years of experience operating CNC Milling equipment (e.g., Johnford DMC, VMC, BMC) in a job shop or made-to-order (MTO) environment.
• First article experience.
• Five plus years of experience in creative problem-solving for machine setups, CNC programming, tooling, and fixturing.
• Firm understanding of GD&T and critical dimensioning, including rework experience.
• Technical high school diploma, machinist trade school, or equivalent work experience.
• Set-up experience with tooling and fixtures, with the ability to follow technical drawings or work instructions.
• Familiarity with shop math principles and basic trigonometry.
• Experience with indicating fixtures and parts to reduce runout, setting adjustable tooling, and understanding timing or rotational values.
• Ability to use existing features to create a machining starting point and establish a flat plane for the start of the machining process.
• Basic CNC Macro coding experience.
• Proficiency in using hand-held power tools, files, assembly, and disassembly.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English, and communicate effectively with team members.

Work Environment

• Pre-employment testing may include fitness-for-duty and vision exams.
• Follow general shop safety procedures, including the use of safety glasses, safety toe shoes, and hearing protection.
• Stand and/or sit for portions of the shift.
• Move parts weighing over 50 pounds using hoists, slings, carts, or other handling methods; move lighter parts with or without assistance.
• Occasional use of powered and hand-held tools.
