CNC Manager

About the role

Oversee the daily operations of a manufacturing machine shop, coordinating production schedules, supervising staff, and maintaining equipment. Maximize safety, quality, productivity, and on-time delivery while optimizing workflow and troubleshooting technical issues. This position reports to the Manager Production and is part of the Operations team located in Cortland, NY, and is an on-site role.

Drive activities to achieve annual Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, and Productivity targets through effective use of Danaher Business System (DBS) tools, including efficient execution of Daily Management and KPI action plan development.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical oversight and oversee complex setups, program G-code (or use CAD/CAM software), and optimize machining processes to ensure all manufactured parts meet blueprint dimensions and GD&T tolerances.
• Enforce routine preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and repair or replace worn tools.
• Implement efficiency improvements (Lean, 5S) to maximize machine utilization and reduce waste.
• Monitor and enforce all OSHA and internal safety protocols and compliance standards.

Requirements

• 5 to 10+ years of hands-on CNC machining experience, with 3+ years in a supervisory or management role.
• Expert-level knowledge of CNC lathes, mills, or multi-axis machines, including programming and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with CNC software (e.g., Mazatrol) and ERP systems.
• Associate’s degree or technical certification in machining, manufacturing technology, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).

Pay

The salary range for this role is $95,000 - $125,000. This role is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
