CNC Machinist - Second Shift Supervisor

This role is responsible for the production volume and output quality of the second shift. Must have strong knowledge in machine setups in order to train, supervise, and fill in where needed.
Schedule
4 days per week, 10 hours per day.
Responsibilities
- Supervise operators: select jobs and machine assignments.
- Train operators to perform their duties where machine operation and quality are concerned.
- Solve problems when needed with program edits, feed/speed changes, and quality issues.
- Responsible for making G and M code adjustments and offsets as needed to maintain tolerances.
- Keep machine setup times to a minimum and production to acceptable output levels.
- Assist in machine setups when two or more machines are down at the same time.
- Work with the CNC Programmer on improvements to programs.
- Train operators on machine setups when they have shown proficiency in operating their machine and successfully run quality parts.
- Perform basic routine maintenance of machines (clean and maintain, no mechanical repairs).
- Maintain all paperwork associated with producing the part and keeping company records.
- Observe safety policies and procedures and operate in a safe manner.
Requirements
- 5+ years of CNC Machining manufacturing experience utilizing aluminum.
- Experienced as a Supervisor, able to train and guide a small team.
- Fluent in “Y” Lathes with live tooling and CNC Mills.
- Working knowledge of G-code and M-code.
- Working knowledge of Algebra, Geometry, and metric to imperial conversions.
- Fluent in GD&T and machining blueprint reading.
- Skilled in part inspection and accountable for the quality of parts.
- OSHA 30-hour certification is preferred; OSHA 10-hour is the minimum requirement.
- Forklift Certification is preferred; can re-certify if prior experience exists.
Physical Demands
- Ability to select, lift, carry, and stack product weighing between 30 and 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand for up to 10 hours, with breaks, while occasionally bending, stooping, and twisting.
- Perform repetitive work for 2 to 4 hours at a time.
- Anti-fatigue mats and stools are available when needed.
Additional Information
We are a Florida Drug Free Workplace. The company requires all employees to complete a pre-employment 10-panel drug screen; employment status will be dependent on passing this screening and participating in quarterly random screens.
Machines include 10" & Okuma 10 SS and Okuma 12 with OSP 300L Control (Okuma 10SS and 12 running with sub-spindle live tooling). Our machines are 3-Axis, 4-Axis, and 5-Axis, and lathes have bar feeders.
