CNC Machinist Programmer - Swiss
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced CNC Swiss-Style Machinist/Programmer with strong expertise in CNC turning and multi-axis Swiss machining. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience programming and operating Tsugami Swiss-style CNC machines with FANUC controls, including programming directly at the machine control. This position is ideal for a skilled machinist who can independently set up, program, troubleshoot, and optimize Swiss CNC machining operations while maintaining high standards for quality and precision.
Responsibilities
- Program and operate Tsugami CNC Swiss-style machines equipped with FANUC controls.
- Program Swiss lathes directly at the machine control.
- Set up CNC machines and ensure efficient, accurate production.
- Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and programming issues to minimize downtime.
- Optimize machining processes, cycle times, tooling, and overall production efficiency.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, and technical specifications.
- Inspect machined components to ensure they meet quality and dimensional requirements.
- Perform routine machine maintenance, calibration, and adjustments.
- Work closely with supervisors and other team members to improve machining processes.
- Train and mentor junior machinists, sharing knowledge of Swiss machining and programming techniques.
- Follow all safety procedures, quality standards, and company policies.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of CNC machining experience required.
- 5+ years of experience with Swiss-style CNC lathes, preferably Tsugami machines.
- Strong experience with CNC turning and multi-axis machining.
- Extensive knowledge of CNC Swiss machining processes.
- Proficiency programming Swiss lathes at the machine control.
- Experience with FANUC controls strongly preferred.
- Ability to independently set up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC equipment.
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Excellent problem-solving and attention-to-detail skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to train and mentor less-experienced machinists.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training, certification, or relevant degree preferred.
Work Requirements
- Position is 100% on-site in Coopersville, Michigan.
- Candidates must be available to work the day shift.
- Candidates must be able to reliably commute to Coopersville, MI 49404 or relocate before starting employment.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a highly skilled Swiss CNC machinist who can take ownership of the complete machining process—from setup and programming through production, inspection, troubleshooting, and optimization. Experience with Tsugami multi-axis Swiss machines and FANUC controls is particularly valuable.
