CNC Machinist Operator - Weekend shift

About the role

Sets up and operates various CNC machines to perform operations on lathes, mills, drills, grinders, turning, shapers, broach, and hobs.

Responsibilities

• Reads process sheets, blueprints, and sketches to determine machining requirements, dimensional specifications, setup, and operating needs.
• Meets or exceeds pieces-per-hour rate as indicated on working documents.
• Verifies accuracy of move tickets, drawings, job breakdown sheets, and quality documents; ensures matching customer and part revisions.
• Loads and unloads work pieces between centers, in chuck, or to faceplate, manually or using hoist.
• Installs preset tooling in tool posts, turrets, or indexing heads, and automatic-tool-change magazine as specified on process sheet.
• Starts machining operation and observes numerical displays on control panel to verify dimensional adjustments, feed rates, and speeds.
• Adjusts machine performance using dials and switches, applying practical knowledge of general machine operation.
• Inspects first-run piece and spot-checks succeeding pieces for conformance to specifications using specified measuring instruments; records SPC data.
• Organizes materials for next run to shorten changeover time.
• May set tools before positioning them in machine using precision gauges and instruments.
• May set up and/or operate other machines or tools during machining cycles.
• Completes all necessary labor and production reporting.
• Follows all safety requirements and guidelines.
• Performs preventive maintenance on machine and maintains cleanliness of work area.
• Completes “Daily Operator Checklist” at the beginning of each shift.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Intermediate reading, writing, and arithmetic skills (typically acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent, or a 2-year degree program).
• Computer literate with ability to learn and work with statistical and manufacturing software applications.
• Verbal and written communication skills.
• Microsoft Office Professional, Word, Excel, statistical, and manufacturer software experience is a plus.

Schedule

• Friday, Saturday, Sunday 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Candidate may need to train on 1st shift Monday–Thursday 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Pay

$26.40–$27.40 per hour.
