About the role
You will produce quality parts by setting up and running CNC milling machines, inspecting your work, and making adjustments as needed.
Responsibilities
- Follow safety culture and wear PPE when required
- Operate a CNC Milling Machine
- Perform precision work on parts with close tolerance between interrelated surfaces
- Follow operation sheets and written or verbal instructions for product specifications
- Operate within AS9100/ISO9001 requirements, including proper documentation
- Observe overall operation and perform regular daily maintenance on equipment and work area
- Verify and visually inspect work and dimensions per operations sheet to specification
- Fill out production paperwork and inspection procedures as required
- Maintain specifications by troubleshooting processes, adjusting controls, replacing worn tools, observing tooling, taking measurements, and detecting malfunctions
- Maintain a clean, organized work area
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (Tech School preferred)
- 3+ years of experience operating a CNC Milling Machine
- Experience in the Aerospace industry
- Knowledge of various metals, alloys, and other materials to optimize proper speeds and feeds
- Strong attention to detail
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to use inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, and indicators
- Ability to perform basic setups on 3, 4, and 5 Axis Machines
- Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and company operation sheets
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Skills in using various machine attachments
- Ability to follow setup instructions, set up, and operate machine controls
- Troubleshooting skills for machines
- Ability to perform precision work on parts with close tolerance between interrelated surfaces
- Ability to work overtime, including weekends
Working Conditions
- Normal production environments, subject to high noise levels from operating machines
- Physical hazards from moving equipment and sharp machine parts
- Exposure to fumes, dust, and mist; skin exposure to oil and cutting fluid
- Exposure to sharp metal edges and forklifts
- May require travel between Southwick and Westfield facilities
Physical Requirements
- Ability to read applicable customer documents with or without corrective lenses
- Ability to lift up to thirty (30) pounds at a time, as required
- Ability to push, pull, reach overhead, stand, walk, climb stairs, bend, and/or sit for long periods of time
