CNC Machinist - Machinist 2

About the role

Laitram Machine Shop, L.L.C., a division of Laitram, L.L.C., supplies quality, high‑precision components. The Machinist Level 2 will be involved with machining a variety of materials to produce parts that meet dimensional and workmanship standards per the shop’s Quality Management System. Laitram Machine Shop provides high‑value machining and related services to Laitram divisions and select outside customers, and is one of four operating divisions of Laitram, L.L.C., offering an opportunity to work for an established, yet growing private‑sector company.

Responsibilities

• Load stock into CNC machine work holding devices and monitors the machining process.
• Performs visual and physical inspection of parts produced per Laitram Machine Shop Quality Management System.
• Performs accurate transactions (clock on, clock off, entering quantities, closing out operation when done, filling in appropriate paperwork).
• Cleans equipment used and keeps work area clean/organized.
• Make adjustments at the machine control to maintain or improve part quality.
• Performs standard Machine job change over procedures.
• Conducts training as needed to assist in developing the skills of others.

Requirements

• Has a high school diploma or equivalent.
• 1-3 years previous Machining experience.
• Experience using inspection tooling (i.e., micrometers, calipers, gages) to accurately measure part features.
• Blueprint reading skills.
• Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, working with fractions).
• Is a self‑managed individual able to work well independently or in a team environment.
• Is flexible and responsive to changing demands.
• Possess excellent time management skills.
• Possess strong verbal and written communications skills.
• Possess basic computer skills.
• Must be able to perform the essential job requirements identified in the Functional Job Description for this position, including the ability to lift 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of G and M codes.
• Experience with manual and automated CMM’s.
• Experience with GD&T.
• Experience with MasterCam programming software.
• Experience with FDM 3D Printing.
• 5+ years' experience MIG/TIG welding.
