Management$41.25–$48.5/hrFull-time

About the Role

Supports robotics manufacturing operations by programming and optimizing CNC machines for precision components used in robotic systems. This role works from engineering drawings and CAD models to develop machining instructions for tight-tolerance parts, ensuring compatibility with downstream robotic assembly. The technician identifies optimal tooling, materials, and methods for producing components such as housings, brackets, and end-effectors using advanced CNC equipment. Collaborates closely with machinists, engineers, and quality teams to ensure parts meet specifications for high-performance robotic applications.

Responsibilities

  • Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs and machine set-ups for lathes and mills used in the production of robotics components.
  • Interpret mechanical and electromechanical design drawings, GD&T, and 3D CAD models specific to robotics assemblies.
  • Recommend tooling, cutting parameters, and materials for precision parts often involving aluminum, stainless steel, composites, or plastics.
  • Assist in designing fixtures that support high repeatability and integration with automated handling systems.
  • Conduct program test runs and dry runs to validate machine setup and geometric accuracy.
  • Independently set up, program edits, and operate CNC machines to manufacture precision parts to specification, verifying dimensions and making process adjustments as needed.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to troubleshoot program issues and refine machining strategies for robotic applications.
  • Maintain setup sheets, tool lists, and revision histories in accordance with industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100).
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts related to cycle time reduction, automation readiness, and robotic system compatibility.
  • Follow all safety and cleanliness protocols applicable to high-tech manufacturing environments.

Core Competencies

  • Execution: Analyzes and prioritizes the varying aspects of the role, knows and/or follows the most effective and efficient processes to get things done, and consistently achieves results—even under tough circumstances.
  • Collaboration: Builds partnerships and works collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives through effective communication that understands the unique needs of different audiences.
  • Innovation: Creates new and better ways for the organization to be successful, and anticipates and adopts innovations in business, operations, and technology applications.
  • Adaptability: Adapts and pivots in real time to match the shifting demands of different situations, and moves forward productively and optimistically under conditions of change and ambiguity.

Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of CNC machine operation, G-code/M-code, and 3- to 5-axis programming.
  • Experience with CAM software (e.g., Fusion 360, Mastercam, or Siemens NX), ideally for robotics or precision manufacturing.
  • Understanding of machining principles for tight-tolerance parts used in robotic assemblies.
  • Familiarity with materials used in robotics such as aluminum alloys, tool steels, composites, and engineering plastics.
  • Knowledge of fixture design that supports automation and robotic handling.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement tools is a plus.
  • Attention to detail, documentation discipline, and a methodical approach to troubleshooting.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical certificate in manufacturing, machining, or a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of CNC programming and machining experience in a robotics, automation, aerospace, or advanced manufacturing environment.
  • Exposure to robotic assembly or integration processes is a plus.
  • Experience working within regulated quality systems (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100) is beneficial.

Pay

The pay range for this position is between $41.25 to $48.50 per hour. Base pay will depend on multiple individualized factors including, but not limited to internal equity, job related knowledge, skills and experience.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • 401(k) retirement plan
  • Paid time off
  • Annual bonus structure
