CNC Machinist II - Lathe (VS1-03) - 2nd Shift

About the role

Responsibilities

• Completes set-ups with general supervision/assistance.
• Responsible for all phases of part operation set-up to achieve first article acceptance.
• Performs and maintains accurate in-process quality inspection and records.
• Identifies and recommends process improvements to reduce part quality variation.
• Continuously improves processes, procedures, and eliminates waste.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• At least three to five (3-5) years experience in operation set-up on CNC Lathe equipment.
• Skilled in the use of indicator, gage, dial bores, and plate inspection methods for first article and in-process inspection of precision machined parts.
• Knowledge of cutting tools feeds, speeds, and inserts tool life for aerospace machining.
• Ability to maintain close tolerances (within .0005”) of ID’s, hold .0005 profile, roundness.
• Ability to follow verbal instructions and interpret blue prints and quality requirements.
• Ability to communicate with employees and management in a positive manner.
• Ability to lift a maximum of 25 lbs. (over 25 lbs. with assistance).

• Desirable experience and capabilities as listed above.

Skills

• Knowledge of various metals and of measurements used in the machining process.
• Able to read and interpret CNC programs.
• Able to make offsets to programs on CNC Machines.
• Able to assist and train less experienced machinists.
