CNC Machinist II

About the role
The CNC Machinist II will operate CNC machinery safely and accurately to produce various metal parts from common and exotic metals. Responsibilities include assembling, repairing, and fabricating parts and components on mills and lathes, loading and unloading metal parts, changing tooling, programming the CNC machine, and adjusting machine settings. The role involves reading and interpreting blueprints and design sketches to meet precise specifications, dimensions, and tolerance levels while ensuring safety, quality, and schedule requirements are met daily.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret work orders and blueprints using metric and standard measurements to machine parts accurately within tight tolerances per customer specifications.
- Perform inspection of equipment, materials, and products.
- Prepare and load raw materials and parts onto machines.
- Input part specifications to program machines for production.
- Monitor machines during operation and make necessary adjustments to programs and run times.
- Choose, change, and load correct cutting tools, including tool length pre-sets and Renishaw probes.
- Learn to create CAD/CAM files or G&M codes.
- Use precision measuring tools to inspect and measure products, ensuring they meet quality standards.
- Document actions by completing production logs.
- Check, clean, and maintain machinery daily to ensure functionality.
- Set up mills and lathes by installing fixtures, attachments, and tools as needed (a plus).
- Troubleshoot processes, adjust and reprogram controls, change inserts, and replace worn tools (a plus).
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other team members.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience as a CNC Machinist in an industrial/manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience with lathes, mills, press breaks, plasma machines, and small hand tools.
- Working knowledge of conventional, CNC, and advanced manufacturing techniques.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient with hand and power tools.
- Able to read and interpret work instructions.
- Fluent in both written and spoken English.
- Familiarity with safety programs and procedures (e.g., LOTO, hazard communication, and company safety policies).
- Self-motivated team player.
- Able to work effectively in South Alabama climate conditions.
- Able to stand for long periods, crawl, squat, and climb without tiring easily.
- Able to lift 50 pounds with reasonable accommodations.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must pass a background check and drug test.

Pay
$28.00 - $35.00 per hour.
