CNC Machinist 4 Lead - 2nd Shift/Screw Cell

Responsibilities

  • Set-up and operate CNC machining centers (such as: Swiss lathes, chucker 2-9 axis lathes, 3-5 axis mills, grinders, wire EDMs, or specified special processing equipment) according to specifications, applying knowledge of machining methods.
  • Review and understand blueprints and job orders for product specifications, such as dimensions and tolerances, tooling instructions (such as: fixtures, speed rates, cutting speeds, depth of cut) and determine sequence of operations.
  • Observe operation of machine and verify conformance of machined workpiece to specifications, using measuring instruments, such as gages, calipers, and micrometers.
  • Troubleshoot problems associated with equipment, tooling, and processes and offer potential solutions to the problem.
  • Edit CNC programs as required to optimize processes based on established department procedures for process improvement.
  • May create and wire CNC programs.
  • Recommend tooling and fixturing solutions.
  • Maintain a clean work area and assure safe operation of all equipment.
  • Complete essential documentation as required.
  • Train, assist, and support employees in producing quality parts and in completing all process requirements.
  • Assure all policies and procedures are followed, and safety precautions are taken to reduce the risk of injury.
  • Assist engineering & other production areas as needed.
  • Must be available for unscheduled overtime to meet production schedules.

Lead Responsibilities

  • Follow the production schedule to drive schedule completion and maximize efficiencies.
  • Know which team member will be running which parts/machines or equipment during their shift. Make sure team members are familiar with any problem areas.
  • Inspect parts and paperwork in a timely manner before moving order. Visual inspection of some parts in the order. Correct part counts. Paperwork completed correctly.
  • Identify non-conforming parts and initiate QHF process, if required.
  • Update cell boards/metrics and present cell data during management walks, as required.
  • Absorb daily meeting covering Safety, Quality or shift issues.
  • Keep production/machines running.
  • Aid/lead daily meeting covering Safety, Quality or shift issues.
  • When a machine goes down to get it back up and running as soon as possible.
  • Provide on-the-job training, knowing the skills of team members and provide training to enhance their skills and ensure documentation is completed.
  • Perform process improvements/6S.
  • Give feedback to programmers on program changes, if applicable.
  • Identify process improvements and insure they are implemented with communication to the Cell Leader, ME, QE or Programmer.
  • Perform 6S audits, work with 6S team.
  • Communicate with other set-up employees.
  • Identify any items needed for production and ensure they are available.

Qualifications

  • High School or GED
  • 7+ Years Experience
  • Complete knowledge of G and M codes.
  • Understanding and knowledge of GD&T.
  • CNC programming knowledge or previous experience programming.

Skills

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize accordingly.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills required.
  • Ability to read & interpret complex blueprints.

Pay

Employee Type: Hourly
Currency: USD
Salary Minimum: 55,000
Salary Maximum: 80,000

Tuesday-Friday, 3pm-1am
