About the Role

A CNC Machinist II operates industrial CNC machines to produce complex aerospace parts primarily from aluminum and titanium, while maintaining quality and safety standards, keeping records, and maintaining equipment and supplies.

Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC machines independently with minimal assistance (<15% of the time).
  • Set up machines with fixtures and required tooling to produce new part numbers with minimal supervision (<15% of the time).
  • Take precise measurements using tools such as gauges, calipers, indicators, and micrometers to ensure setup accuracy.
  • Tear down existing machine setups and return all items to their proper locations.
  • Run multi-spindle machines.
  • Clean and prepare machines for the next setup.
  • Monitor machining operations to ensure parts meet engineering requirements, troubleshoot processes, adjust controls, and replace worn tools while adhering to quality assurance procedures.
  • Produce parts within standard run times.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of setup and in-process machining issues.
  • Conduct basic machine maintenance, such as checking coolant levels, adding coolant, emptying chip bins, and cleaning the work area at least once per shift.
  • Assist CNC Machinist I as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; certification from an accredited technical college is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible CNC milling experience; aerospace industry experience preferred.
  • Effective communication skills with all levels of supervision.
  • Basic math and geometry knowledge; elementary understanding of engineering principles is helpful.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints/drawings.
  • Experience using precision measuring tools (e.g., gauges, calipers, indicators, micrometers).
  • Ability to follow work order instructions, setup book instructions, and verbal instructions.
  • Recent experience with Fanuc and Siemens CNC controls.
  • Ability to drive a forklift.
