CNC Machinist 1 - 1st Shift/Machine Shop

About the role
Responsible to assist in set-up of simple jobs and operation of CNC equipment, tooling maintenance, and ensuring that all required processes are completed to produce parts that meet quality and ISO standards.
Responsibilities
- Assist in set-ups of simple (uncomplicated and straightforward) jobs and operate conventional, special-purpose, and computerized numerical control (CNC) machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts.
- Fit and assemble machined parts into complete units, applying knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics, machinability of materials, and layout techniques.
- Run multiple machines at one time.
- Review and understand blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and set up requirements.
- Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines, such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and tooling pre-setter.
- Verify conformance of finished work piece to specifications, using precision measuring instruments.
- Fit and assemble parts into complete assembly, using jigs, fixtures, surface plate, surface table, hand tools, and power tools.
- Verify dimensions and alignment of assembly, using measuring instruments, such as micrometers, height gauges, and gauge blocks.
- Operate CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) as required.
- Check for machine readiness to ensure functionality and performance.
- Confer with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
- Comply with company requirements to complete essential documentation as required.
- Follow all policies and procedures and take safety precautions to reduce the risk of injury.
- Maintain a clean work area and assure safe operation of all equipment.
- Be available on reasonable notice for unscheduled overtime to meet production schedules.
- Perform and document Operator Preventive Maintenance operations, as needed.
- Assist production in all areas and with tooling/fixturing build.
- Perform miscellaneous non-recurring duties such as packing, shipping, unpacking and sorting, inspection, cleaning, finishing, deburring, etc.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED.
- 1+ years of CNC Machining experience.
Skills
- Ability to work with general supervision.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to be a team player.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize accordingly.
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Basic knowledge of at least one machining principal.
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and to reduce costs.
- Ability to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs.
Pay
Salary range: $40,000 – $55,000 USD per year (hourly). The actual salary offered will be based on experience, skills, qualifications, market/business considerations, and geographic location.
Schedule
Tuesday–Friday, 7:30 AM–5:30 PM, with availability for unscheduled overtime as needed.
