CNC Machine Operator - Night Shift - Pendleton

About the role

Arthrex, Inc. is a global medical device company and a leader in new product development and medical education in orthopedics. We are actively searching for CNC Machine Operators to support our Pendleton, SC manufacturing facility on Night Shift (Monday through Thursday, 7:30 pm to 6 am).

Responsibilities

• Produce superior products following Arthrex Manufacturing Inc. standards
• Troubleshoot and repair equipment when machine is not working properly
• Follow written process and operate a variety of CNC machines and special processes with little to no supervision
• Receive work order and verify that the components are correct
• Receive material and load on bar feeder
• Perform and record line clearance
• Verify the machine is running the correct program
• Deburr parts as required
• Measure parts for conformance to blueprint specifications using precision measuring instruments
• Interact in a manufacturing environment with a variety of personnel and shift changeover on a daily basis
• Confirm that inspection process is kept at AQL S C=0 (e.g., check parts every 30 minutes)
• Maintain good quality and production output
• Sort/rework parts as required
• Assist on other operations as required
• Data entry in SAP system
• Maintain work area in a clean, orderly condition and follow safety procedures
• Report any safety or maintenance concerns to management immediately
• Perform first cut-off
• Return all axes to the home position
• Stop machine to change settings, replace tools and perform tool offsets
• Recommend process improvements with supervisor or programming personnel to resolve problems

CNC MO II Responsibilities

• All duties listed above, plus:
• Adjust bar feeder for proper size of material and perform a dry run without material; verify material against work order for correct lot number
• Perform first PC inspection when set-up is completed
• Adjust tools to meet blueprint specifications
• Download programs to the machine, dry run machine with no material and all tools in place
• Monitor screen pages and machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust machine controls or control media; verify the correct program in the machine is running
• Set up multi-axis lathes and milling machining centers; operate machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data
• Demonstrate ability to streamline processes to increase productivity and quality
• Install and adjust collets with proper pressure
• Clean and assemble all collet assemblies, remove or replace fixture, collets and tools; inspect old collets and guide brushes
• Verify correct tools against tool sheet and program; set up any type of tool in the pre-setter and/or machine
• Notify programmers of issues and updates required for improvements
• Support machine operators as assigned by Crew Coordinators and/or Supervisor

CNC MO III Responsibilities

• All duties listed above, plus:
• Set up production and pilot production jobs consistently, timely and accurately
• Identify root cause of problems related to machine settings, tooling, fixturing and collets, and notify leadership and correct when authorized
• Drive others to exceed goals
• Identify programming, tool data sheets (TDS) and/or process data sheets (PDS) issues/discrepancies and notify Engineering
• Assist crew coordinators and mentor lower level operators using effective training and troubleshooting methodology

Requirements

• CNC MO I: High School Diploma or equivalent AND 6 months of direct CNC experience
• CNC MO II: High School Diploma or equivalent AND 2 years of direct CNC machine experience
• CNC MO III: High School Diploma or equivalent AND 4 years of direct CNC machine experience

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

• Desire to improve in all areas and work as part of a team committed to safety, quality, and efficiency
• Attention to detail
• Successful completion of assigned curriculum within 180 days of hire/transfer which includes completing the Fundamentals of Manufacturing
• Basic computer literacy and basic math skills

CNC MO II Knowledge and Skill Requirements

• CNC machine set-up experience is preferred
• Use different types of measuring tools and perform all aspects of line clearance

CNC MO III Knowledge and Skill Requirements

• CNC machine set-up experience is required
• Use different types of measuring tools and perform all aspects of line clearance
• Advanced computer literacy

• Multi-axis Swiss lathes
• Lathes
• Milling machining centers
• Grinders
• EDM

Physical Demands

Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
