Progress Rail CNC Machine Operators work with heavy machinery producing railroad track components. They maintain equipment to ensure it operates safely and effectively.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret drawings and part specifications; verify and adjust speeds and feeds for optimum machining
- Make necessary offset changes to be within allowable tolerances
- Change inserts
- Verify conformance of part to specifications using measuring instruments such as scales, calipers, micrometers, and fixed gauges
- Fill out inspection reports as required
- Clean machined parts to ensure readiness for assembly
- Report all issues regarding tooling and setup to the supervisor
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workplace
- Be punctual and act in accordance with company policies and procedures
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years CNC multi-axis machine operator experience required
- 3 to 5 years CNC multi-axis (boring mills/bridge mills) set up and operation experience
- Ability to multitask and work with minimal supervision
- Must be able to read and write legibly and complete production reports with accuracy
- Must be able to read and use a tape measure
- Strong attention to detail with ability to inspect rail using measuring devices
- Must be quality oriented and a team player
- Complete understanding of safe work practices
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Understanding of G&M codes and overhead crane movement of large material
Pay
$25/hour. Overtime available. Pay range $20.55 - $34.50.
Schedule
1st shift: 4:30 am to 1:00 pm or 5:00 am to 1:00 pm.
