About the role
Step into Advanced CNC Manufacturing Picture starting your second-shift workday (Mon – Fri, 4pm – 12am) in a climate-controlled facility where precision machining powers the global energy transition. As a CNC Horizontal Mill Specialist at Siemens Energy, you’ll craft critical turbine and generator components destined for customers worldwide. You’ll collaborate closely with technical experts, run complex setups, and share best practices that elevate our entire team.
Responsibilities
- Support multiple product lines in our modern manufacturing operations, including Steam Turbine, Large Generator, Gas Turbine, and Combustion Components.
- Run CNC Horizontal Mills with confidence; cross-train on CNC Lathes and Vertical Mills as needed.
- Interpret engineering drawings/blueprints and written instructions; apply GD&T in every setup.
- Read CNC programs, understand G & M codes, and make minor edits to improve safety, quality, and throughput.
- Build and pre-set tooling for specific operations; select tools strategically for cycle-time and quality.
- Set up and use metrology tools (ID/OD micrometers, bore gages, thread gages, and more) to verify results.
- Document results using electronic quality systems; collaborate with the tech support team to refine processes.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 5 years of CNC machining experience with demonstrated proficiency in at least one: Horizontal Mill, Vertical Mill, or Lathe.
- Proficiency in setups, tool selection, program offsets, G-codes, M-codes, troubleshooting, metrology, and blueprint reading.
- Solid shop math skills; ability to read drawings, specifications, and charts; adept with precision measuring instruments.
- Knowledge of GD&T and strict adherence to safety standards.
- Clear, effective communication and a collaborative mindset.
- Able to follow written, oral, or graphic instructions.
- Physical demands: moderate; periodic lifting under 50 lbs.
- Must pass standard hearing, vision, and pulmonary function tests required for the role.
- Achieve the Career Readiness/Work Keys Certificate at Silver Status required.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in machining/CNC, machining/programming certificates, apprenticeship completion, or coursework in CNC machining topics (preferred but not required).
