Responsibilities
- Operate various grinding machines for production and modification of existing parts
- Use standard measuring equipment to ensure parts meet blueprint specifications
- Collaborate with the Quality Department to ensure compliance
- Follow all process documentation and work instructions
- Follow all safety rules and practices
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
Qualifications
- Ability to read blueprints
- Surface grinding and casting qualifications
- Dressing grind wheels (flat and radius)
- I.D. and O.D. understanding
- Standard measuring equipment (micrometers, bore gauges, etc.) use
- Understand micro finishes and GD & T tolerancing (concentricity, radii, squareness, roundness, and run-out, etc.)
- CNC general knowledge of grinding wheels, including selecting proper grades and grits, matching wheels to materials, and understanding wheel dressing requirements
- Knowledge of coolants, cutting oils, and materials required for machine performance and finish quality
- Familiarity with the STUDER S-120 and similar STUDER CNC grinders
- Proficiency in programming and operating FANUC control systems
- Knowledge of multi-spindle grinding
- Familiarity with G-codes specific to ID and OD grinding
- Experience with setting up and calibrating the STUDER S-120
- Knowledge of different work holding and clamping techniques for ID and OD work pieces
