CNC and Set Up Machinist

Key Responsibilities
- Set up CNC machines (including tooling, fixtures, and program offsets) for production runs on iron cast components.
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and job orders to determine machine set-up requirements.
- Inspect initial run pieces and perform in-process inspections using measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
- Make machine adjustments to maintain quality and dimensional accuracy.
- Work with Quality Control and Engineering teams to resolve machining or set-up issues.
- Ensure machines are properly maintained and report any mechanical issues.
- Maintain clean and safe work area according to shop standards.
- Document setup sheets and maintain tooling inventory.
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED is required; technical certification or apprenticeship is a plus.
- A minimum of 3 years of CNC machining experience, with at least 1 year focused on set-ups.
- Hands-on experience machining iron castings is required.
- A strong knowledge of G-code and CNC controls (e.g., Fanuc, Haas, Mazak, etc.).
- Proficiency with precision measuring tools and GD&T.
- The ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents.
- Good problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
- The ability to lift 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
Working Conditions

- The use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
