CNA (Therapeutic Program Worker) - 2nd & 3rd shift

Therapeutic Program Workers (TPWs) at the Ohio Veterans Homes provide direct care to residents, assisting with daily living skills and individual needs based on each person’s capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with eating, bathing, toileting, personal hygiene, oral hygiene, dressing, grooming, and communication
• Assist with feeding and transport residents to activities or programs
• Complete various daily, monthly, and other required documentation
• Observe and report changes in symptoms, behaviors, accidents, incidents, or injuries to the charge nurse
• Perform light housekeeping duties in living areas
• Apply safety and infection control measures
• Assist with redirecting unsafe actions to bring about positive outcomes
• Assist nursing personnel with admission, discharge, and transfer of residents

Requirements

• Formal education in arithmetic (addition and subtraction) and in reading, writing, and speaking common English vocabulary
• For positions at Veteran Services: STNA certification and/or listing on the Ohio Nurse Aide Registry
• For positions requiring transport of residents: a valid driver’s license
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects occasionally
• Willingness to work weekends and mandatory overtime

Pay

• Starting hourly pay: $23.28 per hour ($48,422 annually)
• 1st raise in 6 months: increase to $23.65 per hour
• $500 bonus after 120 days and another $500 bonus after one year
• Multiple pay increases over years of service
• Shift differential pay for 2nd and 3rd shifts
• Longevity increases starting at the fifth year
