About the Role

PeaceHealth is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for a full-time, 0.90 FTE night position in the Surgical department. This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement.

Responsibilities

• Assist professional nursing personnel in providing quality, compassionate patient care by performing tasks involving direct and indirect patient care under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse.
• Perform basic technical skills, including:
  • CPR
  • Taking and recording vital signs
  • Measuring and recording fluid intake/output
  • Applying dressings
  • Recognizing and reporting signs and symptoms of common diseases or conditions
  • Administering treatments as directed by a physician or nurse
• Assist patients with personal care, including:
  • Bathing
  • Mouth and skin care
  • Grooming and dressing
  • Toileting assistance
  • Eating and hydration
• Provide patients with help walking, exercising, and moving in and out of bed.
• Maintain unit supplies by stocking patient rooms and supply areas to meet patient care needs.
• Document relevant patient care data.
• Provide clerical support to the unit, including order entry, chart processing, and answering telephones.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a CNA.
• Preferred: Experience in an acute care facility.
• Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age-specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs.
• Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) certification in Washington state.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire.

Working Conditions

• Lifting and patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
• Fine motor skills to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.
• Push/Pull: Frequently up to 45 lbs. of force (e.g., WOW, medical carts).
• Perform hands-on CPR for at least 20 minutes using 100-125 lbs. of force (National Assoc. of EMS Physicians and AHA). Frequency should be seldom or occasionally.
• Ability to move around the area with frequent sitting, bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, and kneeling.
• Lifting (non-patient) up to 20 lbs. occasionally and 5 lbs. frequently.
• Exposure to biohazards, body fluids, and airborne particles.
• Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy environment.
• Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
• Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $22.66 – $33.99 per hour. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, and seniority.
