About the Role
Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, the CNA supports the continuum of care by providing basic care and assistance with activities of daily living. Performs uncomplicated technical procedures such as EKG. Participates in basic medical records coding and monitoring of quality assurance such as chart audits. Utilizes a variety of technical equipment and supplies. Provides basic patient inventory management. Assists with patient transport to other units and procedural areas. Delivers laboratory specimens to lab and blood products to the unit. Assists with CPR during Code Blue. Cross trains to the role of Hospital Unit Secretary and Environmental Care Partner. The position requires initiative, ability to prioritize demands, and the ability to work in a team environment. Participates in a team environment, including training and evaluation of peers, scheduling of work, and assisting with administrative functions of the unit.
Responsibilities

- Assist with patient transport to other units and procedural areas
- Deliver laboratory specimens to the lab and blood products to the unit
- Assist with CPR during Code Blue
- Cross-train as a Hospital Unit Secretary and Environmental Care Partner
- Participate in team activities, including peer training, evaluation, and scheduling
Requirements
- Valid California CNA Certificate
- BLS certification at time of hire, with commitment to obtain BART within six (6) months of hire
- One (1) or more years of CNA experience in an acute care setting
- Demonstrated ability to observe deviations from normal
- Experience working with vulnerable patient populations
- Ability to function in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Consistently demonstrate empathy and kindness to all staff and patients
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous acute care experience in a community hospital
- Knowledge of medical terminology or certificate of medical terminology training
- Bilingual: Spanish/English
Special Conditions
- Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical
- If applicable, life-support certifications (BLS, NRP, ACLS, etc.) must include hands-on practice and in-person skills assessment; online-only certification is not acceptable
Pay
Annual Full Pay Range: $55,395 - $73,143 (prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $26.53 - $35.03

Schedule
- 90% appointment (36 hours per week)
- Nights, 12-hour shifts, Sunday-Saturday
- Worksite: East Campus Medical Center (Alvarado Road)
