CNA/Recreation Aide - Amsterdam

The Adult Day Care Program at Amsterdam Nursing Home is hiring a Spanish-Speaking Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) / Recreation Aide for our facility in the heart of New York City. Hours: Thursday & Friday 7:00 AM - 2:00 PM Duties Assist with the implementation of recreational activities and programs for Residents, with a focus on individual interests and needsWork directly with Residents on units and encourage participation in daily activitiesFacilitate Resident participation in programming, recreational activities, events, and partiesAssist the Recreation Director and recreation staff with setting up, implementing, and cleaning up programs as neededOrganize and obtain supplies and equipment for activities as requestedSet up program areas and assist recreation staff with activitiesKeep daily attendance and document Resident participation in recreational programsAssist Residents to program locations and safely return them to their appropriate unitsTransport Residents within the facility as neededReport any health concerns or changes in Residents’ condition to the supervising nurseSet up meal trays and accurately document food and fluid intakeAssist with feeding Residents and serving nutritional supplementsCollaborate with the Recreation Director to create and modify the recreation calendar and coordinate with outside parties for recreational activitiesDistribute recreation calendars and communicate program schedules to Residents and staffAssist with event and party planning and implementationMaintain confidentiality of all Resident and Facility informationBe familiar with and follow established emergency proceduresWork collaboratively with nursing, recreation, and other facility staffPerform other duties as assigned Requirements Positive attitude and energy is a must!!Successful completion of a CNA programCurrent CNA State CertificationMust be in good standing with the State RegistryBilingual - English/Spanish requiredExperience with activities in a healthcare setting or college coursework in Recreation Therapy preferredPrevious experience working with the geriatric population preferredProficient computer skillsKnowledge of APIE (Assessment, Planning, Implementation, Evaluation) preferredStrong organizational and planning skills with the ability to multitaskAbility to work effectively as a team memberExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to engage Residents and encourage participation in activities About Us With Columbia University and the Cathedral of St. John the Divine among its neighbors, Amsterdam House is located on Amsterdam Avenue at 112th Street in New York City.
