About the role

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) serves as caregiver to residents during the scheduled work period in long-term care (LTC). Provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). Delivers age-appropriate care related to the physical and psychological needs of residents as per care plans. Follows infection prevention and control policies and uses Personal Protective Equipment. Accountable as a member of the nursing team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with basic health care needs and daily living activities including bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing/undressing, and obtaining/recording vital signs.
  • Provide psychosocial support and personal care to assigned residents.
  • Assist residents in transferring, repositioning, and walking using correct transfer techniques and equipment; provide range of motion and passive exercises.
  • Complete tasks related to food preparation and dining, creating a positive dining experience; assist residents with meals, snacks, water, and supplements.
  • Aid providers and nursing staff with procedures as needed.
  • Document resident interactions, care outcomes, behavior, activity, and dietary information.
  • Communicate residents' changing conditions and care-related concerns/responses to the charge nurse.
  • Collect non-invasive body fluid specimens and gather vital signs.
  • Provide housekeeping and laundry services to assist residents in maintaining clean living areas.
  • Assist with and document wellness and recreational programs; encourage resident participation.
  • May participate in departmental or organizational committees and task forces.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED preferred, but not required.
  • Minimum age of 16.
  • Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing required; must obtain certification within four months if not already certified (facility provides training and certification).
  • Satisfactorily complete yearly department-specific competency testing and maintain continuing education credits (minimum 12 hours annually).
  • Maintain all department-specific required certifications.
  • When applicable, certified and registered with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry.
  • May require a valid driver’s license and motor vehicle report (dependent on facility and role responsibilities).

Pay

  • Salary range: $19.00 - $25.50 per hour, depending on experience.
  • $5,000 sign-on bonus available.

Schedule

  • Part-time nights (16 hours per week / 45 hours per pay period).
  • Every other weekend and holiday rotation.
  • Two shifts during the week.
