CNA Pediatric Homecare - Flexible Schedule

About the Role

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) functions in an assistive role in the provision of patient care services through regular assignments or delegated tasks and is supervised by the RN. The CNA demonstrates the ability to carry out specific tasks with reasonable skill and safety that adheres to the prevailing standard of practice in the nursing community.

Responsibilities

• Document all tasks completed and may include:
  • Checking/documenting patients’ pulse, temperature, and respiration.
  • Assists patients in simple prescribed exercises and range of motion.
  • Maintains records to report and discuss observations with a supervisor or case manager.
• Provides patients with help moving in and out of beds, baths, wheelchairs or automobiles, and with dressing and grooming.
• Changes bed linens, washes and irons patients’ laundry, and cleans patients’ quarters.
• Performs a variety of duties as requested by client, such as running errands and preparing meals.
• Functions as a team member demonstrating collaboration with and responsibility to the patient, physician, and the healthcare team.
• Shifts or visits are according to the orders on the Plan of Care/Home Health Aide Assignment sheet.
• Communicates observations of significant changes in patient status to the RN Case Manager.
• Attendance at Multi-Disciplinary Team Meetings is recommended and documented via sign-in sheets.
• Communicates with RN Case Manager/Director of Clinical Services for each patient as needed.
• Participates in Agency’s other mandated activities as requested by Agency Director, such as In-Services.
• Supports and executes the mission, ethics, and goals of the company effectively.
• Completes all clinical documentation accurately and submits it timely per agency policy/guidelines.
• Represents themselves in a positive and professional manner in the company and community.
• Adheres to dress code with a clean and neat professional appearance.
• Reports on time and as scheduled to complete work within designated time.
• Adheres to all company policies and procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook, Employee Agreement, or communicated from the executive team.

Requirements

• Graduation from an approved certification/program/accredited school/undergraduate/graduate school or post-graduate education to reflect ability to perform the job as described.
• Current, unencumbered state certification to practice as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
• Professional experience required per state regulations to perform the job as described.
• Successful completion of assigned screening/competency testing with a proficiency score of 80% or greater.
• Provide a copy of current TB results or Chest X-Ray.
• Provide a copy of current CPR certification.
• Be flexible, organized, and have the ability to exercise sound judgment to perform the job duties/responsibilities as described.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to regularly sit, stand, stop, bend, kneel, walk, balance, crouch, crawl, push, pull, and reach with hands and arms and other physical activities as deemed necessary by job duties.
• Vision and hearing capabilities within normal limits, with or without aid.
• Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift or move 100 pounds or more if applicable.
• Ability to perform the anticipated level of physical assist required to provide safe client care. If the anticipated level of assist is greater than that which the employee can safely provide, the supervisor is to be notified immediately.

Work Environment

• The work environment is highly variable, as care is generally provided in private homes.
• Lighting, acoustics, air quality, temperature, and environmental hazards are not predictable.
• The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, household pets/animals, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
• The employee is required to travel frequently to complete home health visits.
