CNA/PCA - Long Term Acute Care

Duties

• Completes daily Activities of Daily Living to meet patient’s needs i.e. personal hygiene, dressing patients, linen change.
• Takes and records vital signs including pulse oximetry.
• Transports patients as appropriate.
• Collections and transports urine, stool and sputum samples for testing when assigned; completes Point of Care testing.
• Lifts, turns, repositions and ambulates patients, alone or with assistance.

Qualifications

• All required education is a minimum requirement. Higher levels of education are acceptable.
• PCA education requirements:
  • a. an Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP) training program in the last three years,
  • b. a fundamentals of nursing course,
  • c. a certified nursing assistant program with obtainment of certification (C.N.A.),
  • d. a graduate of a professional or practical nursing program who did not pass the state licensure examination in the past three years,
  • e. A graduate of a professional or practical nursing program outside the United States and awaiting licensure in this country
• BLS certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
• In lieu of a. through e. listed above in the Education section, documented experience working for one year as a nurse assistant in an inpatient setting in the past three years will qualify for this position.
• In Home Health, 6 months of Hospital/Nursing Home experience is required.
