About the role
The Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as caregiver to residents during the overnight shift in long-term care. Provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). Delivers age-appropriate care related to the physical and psychological needs of residents as per care plan. Follows infection prevention and control policies and uses Personal Protective Equipment.
Responsibilities
- Assist with basic health care needs including bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing/undressing, and obtaining and recording vital signs
- Provide psychosocial support and other personal care to assigned residents
- Assist residents in transferring, repositioning, and walking using correct techniques and equipment; provide range of motion and passive exercises
- Prepare food and assist with dining, creating a positive experience for residents; provide water and supplements as appropriate
- Aid providers and nursing staff with procedures as needed
- Document resident interactions, care outcomes, behavior, activity, and dietary information
- Communicate residents' changing conditions and care-related concerns to the charge nurse
- Collect non-invasive body fluid specimens and gather vital signs
- Provide housekeeping and laundry services to keep residents' living areas clean and operational
- Assist with and document wellness and recreational programs; encourage resident participation
- Participate in departmental or organizational committees and task forces as needed
Requirements
- High school graduate or GED preferred, but not required
- Minimum age of 16
- Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing required at time of hire or within four months by enrolling in a training program or obtaining certification through Endorsement (training and certification provided by facility)
- Satisfactorily complete yearly department-specific competency testing and maintain continuing education credits (minimum 12 hours annually)
- Maintain all required certifications
- When applicable, certified and registered with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry
- May require a motor vehicle report and valid driver’s license if role classifies as a Sanford Category II Driver; must be medically qualified to perform essential driving functions per Sanford Driving Policy
Pay
- $21.00 – $24.36 per hour, depending on experience
- $2,500 sign-on bonus
- Shift differentials for overnight shifts
Schedule
- Part-time, 24 hours per week
- Shift: 10:30 PM to 7:00 AM
- Every other weekend and rotating holidays
