About the role

The Nursing Assistant provides direct patient/resident care and supportive services to the nursing unit and health care provider team under registered nurse supervision.

Responsibilities

• Provide bedside patient/resident care and perform nursing assistant procedures
• Stock supplies and maintain equipment
• Perform routine housekeeping duties as needed
• Transport patients/residents as necessary
• Document care and procedures using basic computer skills
• Assist or perform Activities of Daily Living (bathing, toileting, eating, dressing, grooming, etc.)
• Change bed linen and assist with transferring residents (bed to chair, chair to bed, turning, repositioning)
• Observe and report pressure areas, skin breakdown, accidents, incidents, injuries, or skin tears to nurse supervisor
• Measure and record vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate, respirations, temperature) and report abnormalities to RN/nurse supervisor
• Perform blood glucose monitoring if required
• Use computer and basic clerical skills for documentation, inputting orders, supply ordering, and answering phones/call lights
• Complete training and competency in specialty skills/procedures for the department population
• Perform other duties as directed by the leader/manager

Requirements

• High School Diploma, High School Equivalency Certificate (GED or HISET), or confirmation of three years of experience in a hospital/medical setting
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in the appropriate state (TN or VA) required
• In behavioral health areas, phlebotomy training is required
• Individuals who are at least 18 years of age and enrolled in a high school/secondary education program in good standing may be eligible
• AHA BLS certification required for direct patient care provider

• Shift: Night (7p-7a)
• On Call: No
• Weekends: Rotating
